SUSTAINABILITY ACTIONS

We are committed to Intermodal South America having a positive impact on people and the planet. We want to play a key role in helping the entire logistics community improve its sustainability, connecting people to the networks and knowledge they need to help solve the big challenges of the future.

Sustainability at Intermodal South America

Intermodal South America recognizes the importance of sustainability in its activities. It is the largest logistics, intralogistics, technology, cargo transportation, and foreign trade event in the Americas. We are committed to sustainability, both now and in the future. This reflects our responsibility to contribute to a world that is environmentally responsible, socially just, and economically viable.

The transportation sector faces significant sustainability challenges due to its intensive movement, such as carbon emissions associated with logistics. However, we view these challenges as opportunities to innovate, seek efficient solutions, and promote more sustainable practices.

Intermodal aims to provide a platform for discussing and addressing logistics challenges, inspiring participants to adopt sustainable practices in their operations. By collaborating during events, we aim to enhance a transformative movement in the industry, collectively constructing a sustainable future. We need the commitment of every participant not only to address current challenges but also to collectively build a sustainable future for logistics.

As part of our commitment, we focus on three sustainability pillars.

.

Goal 4: Ensure that education is inclusive and equitable, and promote opportunities for lifelong learning for all.
Increase the number of individuals with relevant technical and vocational skills for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship, both among youth and adults.
Goal 7: Ensure reliable, sustainable, modern, and affordable access to energy for everyone.
Expand infrastructure and modernize technology to provide modern and sustainable energy services for all in developing countries
Goal 8: Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.
Achieve higher levels of economic productivity through diversification, technological modernization, and innovation.
Goal 9: Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and foster innovation.
Achieve higher levels of economic productivity through diversification, technological modernization, and innovation.
Goal 12: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.
Reduce global per capita food waste at retail and consumer levels, and minimize food losses throughout production and supply chains.
Goal 17: Enhance the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development.
Mobilize knowledge, expertise, technology, and financial resources to strengthen the global partnership for sustainable development. To encourage and promote effective partnerships between public, private, and civil society sectors, it is important to learn from the resource mobilization strategies of these partnerships
  • Better Stands Program: raising awareness among our exhibitors and assembly companies to use reusable stands, thereby reducing waste generation;
  • Reduction of printed materials, with those being FSC certified;
  • Interactive map provided on the Intermodal Platform, replacing the printed pocket map;
  • Carpets made from recycled PET and PP, some of which were reused from previous events, were used. After the event, the carpet will be reused in subsequent events or recycled and transformed into new products;
  • Use of LED lighting in the pavilion and Informa spaces, and optimization of air conditioning usage to decrease energy consumption;
  • Selective waste collection and environmentally responsible disposal of all event-generated waste;
  • Options for vegan and vegetarian food in event restaurants and snack bars;
  • At the event's exit, a container is provided for the conscious disposal of credentials that will be reused at future events.
  • Motorized chairs are available for accessibility at the event;
  • Hiring of People with Disabilities (PwD) in partnership with the PAE program (Programa de Atendente Eficientes);
  • Provide support for the Safrater, Instituto Jô Clemente, and CAMPS Santos (Centro de Aprendizagem e Mobilização Profissional e Social) initiatives during the event.

Sustainability Highlights

.

We emphasize that Intermodal addresses sustainability-related topics, promoting relevant content on our content channels, our digital platform, social media, and at congresses and arenas open to the event's audience.

We want everyone to feel a sense of belonging, and for our communities to feel inspired and benefit from the diverse identities, innovations, and ideas we present at Intermodal South America.

We achieve this through:

Additionally, we support and promote the following manifestos:

> Manifesto Rota Feminina (Women's Route Manifesto)

Rota Feminina was created to transform the logistics ecosystem through gender diversity, connecting women to opportunities and boosting their careers.

The movement believes that female presence brings new perspectives, complements skills, and strengthens the sector. The goal is for all women to feel prepared to work in logistics while the sector evolves to better accommodate them. The platform creates strategic connections between women in logistics and their ecosystem, including:

  • Suppliers

  • Work partners

  • Logistics and transportation companies

  • Experienced industry professionals

> Manifesto Caminhoneiros Surdos do Brasil – CSB (Brazilian Deaf Truckers Manifesto)

The Brazilian Deaf Truckers – CSB was created to transform the reality of deaf individuals in the transportation sector. Since November 2020, the movement has worked to overcome challenges related to obtaining a driver’s license and entering the job market.

The first major achievement came in 2021 with the presentation of PL 2634/21 by Senator Romário (PL/RJ), proposing driver’s licensing in all categories for deaf and hearing-impaired individuals.

Today, CSB is nationally recognized, with the support of associations, City Councils, companies, and advocates. The movement remains mobilized to ensure greater accessibility in traffic and licensing processes.

We want to have a positive impact on our local community; not only do we have an economic impact on our host city, but we also have the opportunity to make a social and environmental impact. See how we are doing!

  • We support Safrater, a local initiative to promote socio-educational programs aimed at welcoming and developing the Ser Integral and the family, based primarily on transformative knowledge, offering means and opportunities for their autonomy, and training for the full exercise of citizenship and fraternity.
  • Quick massages will also be offered to visitors at booth L-110, with 10% of the profit donated to the institution. To learn more or to make your donation, please visit: https://www.safrater.org.br/

Better Stands is a program by Informa Markets, the organizer of Plástico Brasil, aimed at achieving zero waste from stands by 2030. The initiative encourages exhibiting companies to abandon the use of disposable (single-use) stands and prioritize the use of reusable structures.

By making their stand designs sustainable, builders and exhibitors will be recognized with Gold, Silver, and Bronze seals on their stands during Plástico Brasil.

Designed for 2030, this final level incorporates all elements of the Bronze and Silver levels, adding graphics, decorative items, and flooring to ensure zero waste generation.

Scheduled to be achieved by 2027, this level, in addition to including all elements of the Bronze level, requires that all structural objects, front and overhead signage, ceiling, and display stands be reusable.

This level involves the construction of stands where components, including walls, floors, furniture, equipment, and lighting, are 100% reusable, to be achieved at all Informa Markets events by next year.

Participation in the Better Stands program benefits the entire events market. The most important benefit is that adopting reusable structures will drastically reduce waste generation and, consequently, the environmental impact of events.
